Name: Pippa Manning
Age: 36
Job Title: Regional Environmental Coordinator for the Northern Region, Queensland
Employer:
John Holland Group
Absorb qualifications: Cert IV Environmental Management
& Advanced Diploma Environmental Management
Why did you undertake these courses with Absorb Training?
I completed the courses to ensure that I had relevant, accepted qualifications to pursue a career in environmental management. I wanted to further my career within John Holland, and required a training program that would fit in with my work and family life. These courses enabled me to achieve this.
Did it meet your expectations?
Both courses met my expectations, especially the Advanced Diploma, which was very management focused, which I needed. It also taught us how to inspire others to take an interest in the environment and to encourage more people to embrace these training programs. I found the delivery of the courses to be very effective and the presenters very equipped to manage the course.
Would you be in your current role without these qualifications?
No, I don’t believe I would be in this role without these qualifications. I did have the skills previously, however, I needed the qualifications to ensure that I could continue advancing my career.
What do you like best about your current role?
I enjoy the freedom and ability I have to make a difference both in the workplace and the environment. I also have the chance to experience a wide diversity of workplaces and environments, so I am never bored.
Why did you choose this career?
To some extent, this career chose me. This is what I am good at, and mainly what I know how to do. I enjoy my work, so that makes it easy to do my job. I would like to continue moving up the career ladder to ensure all business units work towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future. I would also like to continue my studies.
Who would you recommend this course to?
I would recommend the course to anyone who is limited in time, needs to rapidly skill up on environmental issues, and people who have practical skills but not the qualifications.
